Although the programme itself only managed to hold my attention for 20 mins, Patrick Grant managed to keep me glued for another whole episode. This is mainly due the insightful tailoring advice he provides throughout the show (honest guv!).

After purchased the flagging Norton and Sons tailoring company back in 2005, he has since revived the brand though premium bespoke tailoring with a strong sense of heritage. Concepts that were also applied to the then defunct ready-to-wear subsidiary E Tautz and Sons.

The Great British Sewing Bee final airs tonight, with the BBC confirming the commission of a second series next year.

Nivens is situated on the dreary walk from Kings Cross to Exmouth Market and is a haven of normality on a hung over walk to the office (not that we have ever done such a thing!). The honest, quality produce ticks the boxes for taste and price and we love the down to earth service that accompanies their delicious sarnies. One word Yum! We strongly recommend.

Classic Barbering

Like many, my husband was just a wash-face-with shampoo-in-shower type of guy until a couple of years ago. And, despite the the rise of the metrosexual in the mid nineties and the burst of readily available male grooming products in recent years, tonnes of guys are still scared of sprucing themselves up a bit.

With the resurgence of heritage in fashion and style, so has been the rise of classic gentlemen barbering. This, I came to discover scouring the net whilst looking for a decent man birthday present. Then I came across Murdock in Covent Garden. Initially looking for grooming products, I found that they offered a full range of barbering services set in a uber cool Victorian interior; leather sofas, boxing gloves, travel chests and maps. Services include hair styling, traditional luxury wet shaves, scalp massages and shoe polishing. All very manly.

So, dudes, if you fancy treating yourselves, or need to tame that wild moosh for Movember (very good) how about a traditional barbering sesh. You know you want to, and your birds wont mind either.

Campfire Cologne

In my head,this is what I look like when I find myself on a camping trip. Embracing nature, nurturing my hunter/gatherer instincts, chopping down trees and generally being the being the epitome of man.

In reality I grumble and moan, eat food that doesn’t need to be cooked, get limited amounts of sleep and then retreat back to civilization as soon as possible without looking like I gave up too soon. Maybe I’d be better just having a few boxes of the Campfire Cologne handy when I feel the urge to go camping.

Take one amazing old building, add freestyle skater, Kilian Martin and you get the basis for a really nicely short video. Making the most of the space in which they’re in, the skater and film maker Juan Rayos have made this short which focuses on the beauty of the derelict location as well as the movement of a pro skater. The echoes of the board slapping and urethane wheels against the floor makes for an atmospheric soundtrack.

Art Drive!

I swear that I’m interested in many things other than cars, although my blogging on here would suggest otherwise. However, after attending the ‘Art Drive!’ exhibition last weekend, I thought it deserved a mention in the blog! Put on as a part of the London 2012 Festival, ‘ArtDrive!’ takes over the wonderful Brutalist Shoreditch landmark – The Great Eastern Street NCP car park – and uses it to exhibit the BMW Art Car Collection. This is the first time that the collection has been on show in the UK and it showcases 16 of the 18 Art Cars produced over a 35 year period. The exhibition starts on the top floor of the car park and as you work your way down each floor you see the cars painted by such legendary artists as Andy Warhol, David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein. It’s a really great way to see these 3D pieces of art up close and the show works so well within the space of the carpark. The show runs until Saturday 4th August and is open from 12pm-9pm daily.
